Drama-rama

A colleague of mine, John Pankratz, took the kids' pictures last week, so the quality of the shots in this blog posting are quite a bit higher than usual.

Zack has a bad rap. He's a bit of a fussy kid - not in the big scheme of things, but next to his angelic sister he's a bit of a fuss-bucket.

We didn't think much of it when the Z man was particularly on edge today. After several hours of sushing, and rocking, and cooing, Dana took Z up for a change and I went to make lunch. Up to my elbows in tuna fish (literal tuna fish, not some disgusting metaphor - the elbows are hyperbole) Dana called me to "help". Now Dana's pretty self reliant and doesn't typically need my help with only one child so, hands still covered in mayo, I went bounding up the stairs. In taking off Z's sleeper to change his diaper, Dana noticed that a hair had wound itself around little Zacky's right fourth toe - cutting off the circulation to the tip of the toe. The hair had mananged to knot itself and Dana couldn't unwind it. Fortunately, with me holding Z's leg Dana was able to save the day with a pair of tweezers. Once the hair was off and circulation was restored, Zack was a much more plesant child for the rest of the day, intermittantly napping and cooing until the witching hour (around 7pm). In short, Dana is a big hero who saved Zachary from a life with only 9 toes!

Eden, of course, remains angelic!

(seriously, this picture is real - completely un-doctored! That's D's hand)

  1. I want to write some metaphor for edibleness--except that I think it is really very Medea-like that we often speak in terms of eating our children. Bizarre, that. We realized we had to stop pretending to eat our babies, when B started munching on M's leg for real, and realized she learned it from u.

But these munchkin donut holes look delish--SEE? I couldn't help it. Yay for Dana's save!
